Leche Flan Cake!

Leche Flan is one of my favorite dessert. And every time that i miss it, all i have to do is to bake for me and for hubby because i already keep all the ingredients to be ready anytime. But Leche Flan cake is a little different from the leche flan itself, because you have to make the cake with the leche flan. And i love it too, so i will try to bake it on hubby's birthday two weeks from now and hopefully it will turn out good for me. And for those who want to try to make the Leche Flan Cake, here's the ingredients and how to make it.

Ingredients:

For the caramel
1 cup regular white sugar
1/4 cup water Pinch of cream of tartar

For the flan
6 egg yolks
1 whole egg
1 cup evaporated milk
1 cup condensed milk
2 teaspoons grated lemon or dayap rind

For the cake
2 1/4 cups sifted cake flour
2/3 cup caster sugar 1 tablespoon sifted baking powder
1/2 cup corn oil 8 egg yolks
2/3 cup water 1 teaspoon (he salt 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract 8 egg whites 1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar 2/3 cup caster sugar)

How to make Leche Flan Cake:
*Preheat the oven to 350 F and prepare the caramel In a large frying pan, combine sugar, water, and cream of tartar. Mix well with a spoon, and then place over medium heat Do not disturb the mature once it's over direct heat Allow sugar to caramelize to a light golden brown
*Immediately pour the caramel into a 9'' x 13'' baking pan (3 inches high)
*Using kitchen towels, tilt the pan so as to encourage the caramel to completely cover the bottom of the pan. Set aside.
*Combine the flan ingredients in a large mixing bowl strain, using a piece of cheesecloth or fine strainer. Stir in 2 teaspoons of grated dayap or lemon rind. Transfer the flan mixture to the caramel lined baking pan. Set aside.
*Prepare the cake. Blend the first 8 Ingredients for the cake in a large mixing bowl. Beat with a wire whisk until smooth and lump free. Set aside.
* In another large mixing bowl, using an electric mixer, beat the egg whites together with the cream of tartar until frothy Gradually add the white sugar while continuing to beat at medium speed until the egg whites are stiff but not dry.
*Quickly but thoroughly fold in the egg yolk mixture into the beaten egg whites
* Carefully pour the cake batter into the pan with the custard. Do not tap the pan.
*Bake for one hour and 25 minutes using a water bath ( place cake pan in a larger cake pan that you fill with water) Allow the cake to cool in its pan together with the water bath. Unmold carefully and chill well before serving.

It has been 2weeks since i signed up for PPP, and so far working with them is a great experience. I remembered, way back on my second year college, Our teacher in Philosophy (Dr. Gavino Lumapas) ask a very interesting question as a motivation before starting his lesson for that day. As i search for something in yahoo. So, i read it and i do believe that it is for being so careless the reason for it. But i could not figure out, why some people/workers could be that careless? Next time you can't get a cell phone signal in the middle of town, put your problem in perspective: New figures show that the deadliest job in America now goes to the men and women who construct, upgrade, and repair cell phone towers.

According to a story in this week's RCR Wireless News (no online link yet), building and climbing towers (which can be hundreds of feet tall) is more dangerous than ranching, fishing, logging, and even ironworking. The fatality rate is currently 183.6 deaths per 100,000 workers: Five tower workers died during one 12-day span earlier this year alone. 18 tower workers died on the job in 2006.

The cause for the runup in tower worker deaths isn't completely clear, but it's likely a combination of careless working practices (workers not using safety gear 100 percent of the time, or not using it correctly) and network operators pushing to build out and upgrade their networks too quickly. Hard to blame carriers for wanting to get faster networks up and running, but not at the cost of human life. (RCR is careful to note that the investigation into the rise in fatalities is too early to attribute to any specific source.)

Oddly, a loophole in OSHA rules may make it difficult for changes to happen quickly: Towers are often constructed by small contractors instead of the carriers or the owners of the towers. Since the carrier isn't on site during the construction of the tower, the contractor receives the fine and the carrier and owner face no sanctions. (That hasn't stopped the families of some of the deceased workers from suing carriers, though.)

What is your Caller ID?

As i open my e-mail, i receive a forwarded msg from my good friend Nila. I don't usually open forwarded e-mail, most especially if don't know whom it came from, because we didn't know that somebody might send a virus, so it's better to be watchful than to be sorry. So, since i know who's the sender of it. I open the msg, First, i thought is just like a chain letter through e-mail and you have to send it to many as you can. But as i read it, it kinda a funny story but full of good message on it. Let me say this way, along the story, you can learn something and somehow you would realize that this story really give us a lesson to learn and trying to tell us something. That's the reason why i wanted to share this short story. For sure, you yourself will learn from it. Below is how the story Goes;

On a Saturday night several weeks ago, this pastor was working late, and decided to call his wife before he left for home. It was about 10:00 PM , but his wife didn't answer the phone. The pastor let the phone ring many times. He thought it was odd that she didn't answer, but decided to wrap up a few things and try again in a few minutes. When he tried again she answered right away. He asked her why she hadn't answered before, and she said that it hadn't rung at their house. They brushed it off as a fluke and went on their merry ways.

The following Monday, the pastor received a call at the church office, which was the phone that he'd used that Saturday night. The man that he spoke with wanted to know why he'd called on Saturday night. The pastor couldn't figure out what the man was talking about. Then the man said, 'It rang and rang, but I didn't answer.' The pastor remembered the mishap and apologized for disturbing him, explaining that he'd intended to call his wife. The man said, 'That's, OK. Let me tell you my story. You see, I was planning to commit suicide on Saturday night, but before I did, I prayed, 'God if you're there, and you don't want me to do this, give me a sign now.' At that point my phone started to ring. I looked at the caller ID, and it said, 'Almighty God'. I was afraid to answer!'

The reason why it showed on the man's caller ID that the call came from 'Almighty God' is because the church that the pastor attends is called Almighty God Tabernacle!! If you believe that God answers prayers then pass this on. God bless!

A young man was getting ready to graduate from college. For many months he had admired a beautiful sports car in a dealer's showroom and knowing his father could well afford it, he told him that was all he wanted.

As Graduation Day approached, the young man awaited signs that his father had purchased the car. Finally, on the morning of his graduation his father called him into his private study. His father told him how proud he was to have such a fine son, and told him how much he loved him. He handed his son a beautiful wrapped gift box. Curious, but somewhat disappointed, the young man opened the box and found a lovely, leather-bound Bible, with the young man's name embossed in gold. Angrily, he raised his voice to his father and said, "With all your money you give me a Bible?" And stormed out of the house, leaving the Bible.

Many years passed and the young man was very successful in business. He had a beautiful home and wonderful family, but realized his father was very old and thought perhaps he should go to him. He had not seen him since that graduation day. Before he could make arrangements, he received a telegram telling him his father had passed away, and willed all of his possessions to his son.

He needed to come home immediately and take care of things. When he arrived at his father's house, sudden sadness and regret filled his heart. He began to search through his father's important papers and saw the still new Bible, just as he had left it years ago. With tears, he opened the Bible and began to turn the pages. His father had carefully underlined a verse, Matt 7:11, "And if ye, being evil know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more shall your Heavenly father which is in heaven, give to those who ask Him?" As he read those words, a car key dropped from the back of the Bible. It had a tag with the dealer's name, the same dealer who had the sports car he had desired. On the tag was the date of his graduation, and the words... PAID IN FULL.
